Special Session on Big Data and Applications in Science, Engineering and Automation Systems (BDASEAS)

Aim and Scope

The conventional notions about Big data usually point to a large amount of data (tuples) that come in volume, velocity, variety, value and veracity, and flow through the communication networks. Such problems have started to be looked into and new developed Big data systems have entered various fields in science, various disciplines of engineering science, and technology systems that refer to plants, inventory systems and so on.
In this Special session, we are motivated by problems related to Big data that occurs in manufacturing systems, business enterprises (ERP connectivity to chemical plant system, batch plants for specialty products, etc.), automation and signal processing networks that distribute Big data partially ordered sets via a cyberphysical set up as a concurrent and parallel distributed processing, Internet based service systems for example systems collecting extra power resources via a grid to re-distribute at low tariff rates, inventory control systems that make use of web based applications for distributed processing (e.g. Hadoop) to initiate and complete various activities.

Call for Papers

The special session will provide an interactive platform to address various aspects of the research challenges set in above mentioned categories (not limited to) and their contribution towards the theme of special session. The program will consist of invited talks, panels, discussion and peer-reviewed paper submissions.

Topics of interests (but not limited to):

  • Big data and spatial sensors and communication systems for a manufacturing system
  • Big data and fault detection for a cyberphysical system using spatial communication networks
  • Big data and signal processing & automation of a chemical plant via Internet connectivity
  • Big data and Internet connectivity for large data banks used for design of drugs, and protein data bank
  • Big data applications and Internet based databases for genetic circuit simulation and metabolic pathways
  • Scalability of Big data and machine learning (e.g. a factory operations management)
  • Stream computing applications for Big data (e.g. dynamic inventory control)
  • Cloud/ stream / Grid computing applications
  • Energy- efficient sequential and distributed computing
  • Autonomic computing and cyberphysical systems
